Congratulations to MSP attorneys Jule Peek and Ben Stell for their recent settlement of two personal injury cases! In one case, Peek and Stell recovered $310,000 for a client who was rear-ended by a tractor-trailer in 2017 while stopped at a red light. The client suffered back, leg, and rib injuries in the collision. Thankfully, the client had no permanent injuries and has made a full recovery. The case was set for trial in early 2020.

In the second case, the MSP attorneys recovered $305,000 for a family involved in a collision with a commercial work truck. The family was transported by ambulance to the emergency room for various soft tissue and whiplash injuries, some of which required several weeks of physical therapy. This case was pending against the at-fault driver’s employer and was set for trial in mid-2020.

These settlements are just the most recent examples of MSP attorneys generating significant recoveries for personal injury and workers compensation clients across the state of Georgia.

In just the past five years alone, MSP attorneys have recovered more than $10 million in compensation for injured clients, highlighted by some of the following results.

-$2 million by Jule Peek for wrongful death in a tractor trailer collision.
-$1.7 million by Jason Sanker for a client injured in a collision with a drunk driver who was operating a company vehicle.
-$1.3 million by Jule Peek for shoulder injury sustained in tractor-trailer collision.
-$1.1 million for noise nuisance claims against utility conglomerate.
-$380,000 by Brian Bojo and Lee Niedrach for leg injuries sustained by a pedestrian after being struck by a vehicle in a parking lot.
-$365,450 recovered by Mike McRae and Lee Niedrach in terminating an irrevocable family trust which had outlived its useful purpose.
-$350,000 by Jule Peek for a client injured in a rear-end collision with a logging truck.
-$300,000 by Jason Sanker for injuries sustained by motorcycle driver.
-$250,000 by Jule Peek and Ben Stell for back injuries sustained in rear-end tractor-trailer collision.
-$249,977 by Lee Niedrach recovered for a telephone company by having a garnishment overturned.
-S200,000 by Lee Niedrach for an elderly patient who fell at a nursing home.
-$175,000 by Jule Peek for injuries sustained by motorcycle driver.
-$145,000 by Jason Sanker for injuries sustained in auto collision.
-$127,000 by Jule Peek for leg injuries sustained in auto collision.
-$125,000 by Jule Peek for neck injury sustained in auto collision.
-$115,000 by Rob Monroe for employee with rotator cuff injury sustained while lifting countertops at work.
-$115,000 by Chris Jackson and Lint Johnson for collar bone injury sustained in collision caused by a logging truck.
-$100,000 by Rob Monroe for employee with shoulder injury sustained in wreck involving long log truck.

MSP Partner and Georgia Conservancy Board of Trustees Member Virginia Harman and her daughter Kate were in attendance at the Atlanta History Center where President Jimmy Carter was honored as 2019 Distinguished Conservationist at 26th Annual ecoBenefête on November 7. The Distinguished Conservationist Award, bestowed at that Conservancy’s annual gala, ecoBenefête, recognized President Carter’s profound and lasting impact on the conservation and protection of Georgia’s natural resources.

As one of the Georgia Conservancy’s charter members in 1967, President Carter’s notable environmental legacy in Georgia and beyond merits celebration by all. From his role in preserving the Upper Flint River at Sprewell Bluff, to his establishment of the Georgia Heritage Trust, to his support of significant environmental policy changes and unwavering commitment to our natural resources, President Carter has left our lands and water for the better. President Carter’s childhood experience on his family farm in Georgia and early notions of stewardship contributed to a strong environmental ethic, which was expressed during his tenures as State Senator, Governor, and President of the United States. That environmental awareness and concern bore fruit in Georgia at Panola Mountain, at Sweetwater Creek, and at Sprewell Bluff, along the Chattahoochee River, in the wild and scenic waters of the Chattooga, and on Ossabaw Island.

“My thoughts on conservation are grounded in a lifelong love of the natural wonders of Georgia and our responsibility to pass on the land, water, and forests in a better condition than we inherited them,” wrote President Carter in his acceptance of the Distinguished Conservationist Award. “Growing up on a farm, I understood the protection of the earth was the individuals’ responsibility and that we must carefully manage and enhance nature rather than degrade it. I am proud to have had the opportunity to share these ideals with the Georgia Conservancy. Their leadership in environmental preservation, protection, and policy enactment was helpful to me as State Senator, Governor of Georgia, and then President of the United States.”

“Future generations of conservation leaders must remember that we are stewards of a precious gift, which is not an unpleasant duty but rather an exciting challenge,” wrote President Carter. “We must safeguard our land so that our children and grandchildren can enjoy freshwater, clean air, scenic mountains and coasts, fertile agricultural lands, and healthy save places to live and thrive.”

The 26th annual ecoBenefête was a singular opportunity to honor the legacy of President Carter and his extraordinary impact on Georgia, the Georgia Conservancy, and the environment.

Throwback to last Saturday’s Gary Tillman Memorial Clocktower 5k race and 2-mile health walk in the heart of downtown Rome. Over 500 runners and walkers came together for health, fitness and fellowship, and to raise money for the Exchange Club Family Resource Center. MSP’s Jason Sanker and his wife Kelly are two of three race directors, along with Gail Johnson (unpictured). This year’s race netted over $36,000 for the prevention of child abuse in Rome and Floyd County.
