Andy joined MSP as an associate in 2001 and was elected to the partnership in 2006. Prior to joining the firm, he served as judicial clerk to Judges J. Carlisle Overstreet and Carl C. Brown, Jr. of the Augusta Judicial Circuit. During his clerkship, Andy assisted the Judges in the areas of civil and criminal litigation. At MSP, he has a general civil practice concentrating in the areas of banking and commercial lending, business, local government, estate planning, administration of estates and real property law.

Andy advises and represents the firm’s banking clients in collection matters including foreclosures, foreclosure confirmations, deficiency actions and suits on notes. He also is on call to take short-answer questions from these clients and performs secured transactions involving real and personal property.

In the area of local government law, Andy has served as counsel to the Northwest Georgia Regional Commission for a number of years. He served as an assistant county attorney for Floyd County from 2003 through 2015 as the primary contact for the Floyd County Tax Commissioner, the Board of Tax Assessors and the Health Department. He also handled real property matters for the county during this period of time.

Andy handles all types of real property law including title exams and real estate closings. He represents the Georgia Department of Transportation in right of way acquisitions. Andy also offers comprehensive estate planning services to the firm’s clients including the drafting of wills, trusts, powers of attorney and health care directives.

Andy is very active in the community and with the local and state bar associations. He is currently a member of Rome Seven Hills Rotary Club where he has served on the board and is a Paul Harris Fellow. He has served as President, Vice President and Secretary/Treasurer of the Rome Bar Association and President of the Historic College Heights Neighborhood Association. Andy is a member of the Greater Rome Chamber of Commerce board of directors and also serves on the executive committee as Vice Chair for Community Development. Andy has been named the 2018 Vice Chair for Industry Services and Public Policy.

In 2012, Governor Nathan Deal appointed Andy to the Rome Circuit Public Defender Oversight Panel which reviews the local public defender’s office on an annual basis and interviews and recommends a candidate to serve as Chief Public Defender for this circuit. Andy has served as Rome City Representative for Attorney General Sam Olens’ “Legal Food Frenzy”, a statewide canned food drive, for the past 4 years. Andy has held several offices within the Republican Party. He currently serves as Chairman of the Floyd County Republican Party and is a member of state committee of the Georgia GOP. Andy lives in Rome and is a member of The First Presbyterian Church, where he serves as a Deacon and teaches adult Sunday School.
