Tommy began working with McRae, Stegall, Peek, Harman, Smith & Manning in 1991 after practicing law in LaGrange , Georgia and working for a family owned business. His practice areas include government law, commercial, employment and insurance litigation. He has worked extensively in the firm's commercial transaction and estate planning departments. In 2003, when the firm began serving as counsel for Floyd County, Tommy became the principal contact of the firm with the County. In that capacity, Tommy has represented the County in numerous litigation matters both in state and federal court.

Tommy is a former president of the Floyd Healthcare Foundation and is currently a board member of the Executive Advisory Council of the Berry College Campbell School of Business. He is a member of the Rome Chamber of Commerce, Rome Bar Association and Georgia Defense Lawyers Association. He is an Elder and a past chairman of the Board of Deacons of the First Presbyterian Church of Rome. Tommy has also served as a past instructor in the Berry College Paralegal Certificate Program. He and his wife, Susi, have three children.
