Jo has been with McRae, Stegall, Peek, Harman, Smith & Manning since 1984. His practice areas include workers' compensation, civil litigation, and employment and education law. Jo has handled numerous workers' compensation claims for many large employers in the Northwest Georgia area, including Floyd County, the Floyd County School Board, the City of Cedartown , and for many national insurers.

Jo has served as a seminar coordinator for the State Board of Workers' Compensation and spoken at various industry group meetings, as well as seminars regarding workers' compensation matters.

Jo is a member of the Rome Rotary Club and previously served as President of Darlington School's Alumni Association and as President of the Nine O'clock Cotillion Club. He is a past board member of the United Way of Rome / Floyd County and the Open Door Home. He is a former President of the Rome Bulldog Club and has served as a Deacon and currently serves as an Elder of the First Presbyterian Church of Rome.
