Dan has been with Mcrae, Stegall, Peek, Harman, Smith & Manning since 1986. His primary practice is bankruptcy, although he is very specialized in diverse areas of the law, such as agricultural, condemnation, banking, forestry, and general litigation.

Dan founded the Agricultural Law Section for the State Bar of Georgia and organized and chaired a farm law seminar for the State Bar of Georgia Continuing Legal Education section.

Dan currently serves on the Board of Legacy Communications, Inc. and has previously served on the board of the Rome Area History Museum . Dan is the publisher of Georgia Backroads magazine and has also published other various books on Georgia history.

Dan has been and adjunct professor at Berry College teaching business law from 1993 to 1997. He has also taught paralegal classes, as well as courses related to botany and outdoor activities in the Berry College Continuing Education Department from 1991 through 2002. Dan is a frequent speaker in Floyd County and Rome City Schools regarding topics ranging from personal development to history.

Dan is an active member of the community by serving as a deacon, Sunday school teacher, and youth group leader at Floyd Springs Baptist Church . He has previously been a member of the Armuchee Ruritan Club and the Rome Jaycees. Dan and his wife, have three children.
