Scott M. Smith

Scott is originally from Bremen where he graduated from Bremen High School. After high school, he attended the University of Georgia.

Scott joined McRae, Stegall, Peek, Harman, Smith & Manning in 1989 upon graduating from Mercer Law School. He initially practiced in the area of litigation with a focus on insurance defense, but in 1992 had an opportunity to practice in the area of real estate and business law. Since that time, Scott has developed this practice while at the same time expanding his expertise in the area of development authority law and land use.

Scott provides representation to developers, lenders, contractors, buyers, and sellers in both commercial and residential transactions with an emphasis in the commercial area. He is currently involved in all types of commercial and residential developments. Scott's practice includes appearing before the various governmental authorities in dealing with zoning and land use issues.

Scott is a past member of the Executive Committee of the Floyd Healthcare Foundation and the United Way of Rome/Floyd County where he served as Allocation Chairman. He served on the Steering Committee for "A Day for Berry , currently serves as President of the Boys and Girls Club of Northwest Georgia, currently serves on the Board of Directors of the Greater Rome Chamber of Commerce and is a charter member of the Seven Hills Rotary Club.”  Scott and his wife, Beth, have three children and are members of the First Baptist Church of Rome, where he has served as the Chair of the Deacons and Missions Committee. He also served as Chairman of the Budget Committee and Stewardship Committee.
